Shown here are the Aces from the traditional Rider Waite Deck. Notice the Suit of Rods here is called Wands. The suit names will be different from deck to deck depending upon which deck you choose, but it would change the "meanings" you associate with them.

Cups
* Emotional responses to situations, love, spirituality

Rods
* Intellectual responses, material gain

Pentacles
* Intuitive responses, acting on what we just "know" is right

Swords
* The way we communicate with others mentally or verbally

Here are examples of the court cards, one from each suit. They can either represent people or events, though I rather like to think of them as EVENTS. If you choose to view them as PEOPLE, use the elemental guide as to their Astological association. I don't ascribe physical attributes such as a certain color of hair, race, stature, etc. As an example, the King of Cups would relate to someone whose Astrology sign might be Cancer, Pisces or Scorpio as these are WATER signs. Or it may be that it depicts a person with the traits of a water-sign.

Court Card Values

· Kings are 10
· Queens are 9
· Pages are 8
· Knights are 7

The court cards represent people who may become important to you in some way. They also correspond to the number or pip card of the same value. Thus, the Queen of Pentacles would have relatively the same meaning as the 9 of Pentacles. They serve as pointers to your progress.

The higher the number, the closer to completion or reaching your goal you are. A good example woud be if your question is about a romance and you received the King of Cups, you would reasonably be able to assume that the outcome would be an experience to its fullest and best. If you received the Knight of Cups, you might assume it is only the beginning stages, or perhaps just thinking about a new relationship.
